95 miles from Scappoose to Nehalem/manzanita along quiet roads in the coast range. Little towns among the way, all in the valley of the upper Nehalem river: vernonia, mist, Jewell, Elsie, wheeler. And only about 8 miles of dirt.

About the prettiest mid-ride view I know of. This is on Burdoin mountain above Bingen WA. It is a 2000ft climb up from the syncline trailhead. I did it Tuesday on a new 29er Sultan I just got from a friend, my international shoe designer buddy who has spec’d and built this bike to consummate level.
